After Nepal did not respond to its proposal of selling 500 MW electricity forwarded last week, Power Trading Corporation of India has now offered to sell 200 MW of electricity.
Chairman and Managing Director of PTC Tantra Narayan Yadav faxed a revised proposal to Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) on Tuesday, Kantipur daily reported.
The revision was made keeping in view NEA's concern over surplus electricity during rainy season when production increases after a few years.
PTC has however offered to buy back the surplus electricity at the same rate when Nepal does not need it.
Uttar Kumar Shrestha, Executive Director of NEA, said the proposal was good and he would take it to the NEA board.
Meanwhile, people have seen some respite, albeit temporarily, from the load shedding thanks to the pre-monsoon showers in the last few days.
NEA has been supplying electricity for 16 hours a day since Monday, as the production has increased in most of the power houses after the rainfall. However, the Authority has not announced formally any changes in the schedule of the load shedding. nepalnews.com Apr 01 09
