Nine mini hydro plants being set up

PALPA , March 28 - He said, as per the agreement signed between the organizations and local users' groups, the users' groups are to construct water canals and poles for the projects. Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) under the Ministry of Environment Science and Technology and Regional Renewable Energy Service Center (RRESC), Palpa has jointly signed agreement with users' groups in four different districts to commission nine mini-hydro power projects. The nine mini- hydro power projects are: Paropkar Co-operatives (116 kilowatts), Dandakhet Nishti, Bhyagutte Nisthi and Daduwaghat Nisthi in Gulmi, Putpute II (98- kilowatt) in Syangja, Khilu Lewase (36 kilowatt) and Fedikhola in Argakhanchi and Chatiwan Khola and Sibikhola in Palpa. According to Lila Bahadur Karki, acting director of RRESC, "We were encouraged to implement mini-hydro projects at the local level after the government increased the grant amount to more than 50 percent from the earlier years,".
